Community Support Network South London (CSN) was formed in 1993, by a group of mental health service users in Lambeth, South London.
In 1996, it obtained funding for an advocate, who worked 28 hours a week at the local psychiatric hospitals. It currently has three paid staff of whom one is on short-term contracts due to funding constraints. A fourth post, also on a fixed term contract, is currently being advertised. This is a second In-Patient Advocacy post. Current posts are: Manager, Forensic and In- Patient Advocates Day-to-day office and financial management is conducted by CSN's Manager as part of a busy workload, with assistance from the valiant efforts of three industrious and dedicated adminstrative volunteers.
